Scammers, posing as representatives of the Federal Tax Service (FTS), are sending Russians emails about the alleged hacking of a taxpayer's personal account. RIA Novosti drew attention to this.
Such letters say: "Dear user, a login from a new device has been recorded. The system has detected the uploading of your documents."
Then, the alleged device and geolocation from which the login was made are indicated. After that, the person is offered to contact the "operational control department" if he did not log in himself.
In this way, scammers try to intimidate a person and make him make a mistake without checking the information. The attackers are counting on the potential victim's anxiety.
The Federal Tax Service of Russia has repeatedly reminded that the agency does not request personal data, does not require transferring money to a card, following links or dictating codes.
If you receive such calls or letters on behalf of the tax authority or specific employees, it is recommended that you carefully check the information and contact the unified contact center of the Federal Tax Service of Russia.
