The third experimental SJ-100 with PD-8 engines and domestic systems reached a ground speed of 1000 km/h during tests on March 11. This was reported by specialized aviation analysts of the "Flying Together" blog.
The flight of aircraft No. 97023 took place in the sky along the route White Sea — Apatity — Murmansk and lasted 4 hours 9 minutes, the crew raised the aircraft to a height of 6100 m.
Other details about the test flight are not yet known, but previously information about such a ground speed of the "Superjet" has not been received.
Recall that ground speed is the actual speed of an aircraft relative to the ground, it consists of wind speed and its own speed. To simplify, if the wind is tailwind, the ground speed is higher, the aircraft flies faster relative to the ground. If the wind is headwind, the ground speed is lower.
It should be noted that according to the datasheet on the official website of the United Aircraft Corporation, the cruising speed of the "Superjet" with PD-8 is 870 km/h. The practical flight ceiling is 12.2 km.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that the SJ-100 will be certified in August of this year. Initially, it was promised that the aircraft would receive the main type document of the vehicle in July, but the deadlines have shifted.
