The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) has signed a contract with the Indian state corporation Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) on joint activities, regulating cooperation in the production of the Superjet 100 aircraft in the republic. The signing ceremony took place on January 28 at the Wings India international aviation exhibition.
The timing for the start of aircraft production is unknown. In the fall of 2025, UAC and HAL signed a memorandum of intent to build airliners, but that document did not actually commit the parties to anything.
Aviation expert Roman Gusarov explained to "The First Technical" that the production of "Superjets" in India is a very distant prospect. The republic will take at least five years to master the technology, it is necessary to create workshops, find personnel and machine tools.
It should be noted that UAC plans to begin deliveries of import-substituted SJ-100s with PD-8 engines to Russian airlines only in 2026. At the same time, there is no information even about the timing of the completion of certification.
