United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and Indian state corporation Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) have signed a memorandum on the production of SJ-1 civil aircraft
The signing of the document on cooperation in the field of aircraft construction took place in Moscow.
SJ-100 will be a turning point in the development of short-haul air transportation within the UDAN program in India. Under this agreement, HAL will receive the rights to manufacture SJ-100 aircraft for domestic customers.
SJ-100 is a Russian short-haul narrow-body aircraft (new version of Sukhoi Superjet 100) with the maximum possible import substitution of components. To date, more than 200 aircraft of this model have been produced, which are successfully operated by more than 16 commercial airlines.
This will also be the first case of complete production of a passenger aircraft in India. The last such project was the production of HAL AVRO HS-748, which began in 1961 and ended in 1988.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that the first Sukhoi Superjet 100 of Yamal Airlinesreceived a new logo.
