First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov announced Moscow's readiness to deepen cooperation with India in the civil aviation sector. During his speech, he highlighted the Superjet-100 (SJ-100) regional aircraft as a potential platform for joint production and technological interaction.
Russian \"Superjet\" aircraft have already carried more than 40 million passengers to date, and they are actively operated by Russian airlines on domestic and international routes. As the certification and scaling of serial production of the updated version of this aircraft progresses, the relevance of cooperation with Indian partners will increase, and it will be possible to discuss it more substantively.
According to Manturov, this step could take bilateral cooperation to a new level — from military equipment to peaceful, commercial aviation solutions.
Manturov recalled that Russian-Indian relations in the aviation industry have a long history: from the licensed assembly of MiG-21 fighters to modern multi-purpose Su-30MKI aircraft at Indian enterprises. According to him, the next logical step could be the joint production of civil aircraft.
