RZD conducted tests of the contact network for the future high-speed railway line under emergency conditions caused by a wire break.
At the test section of the VNIIZhT Experimental Ring in Shcherbinka, specialists simulated the burnout of a contact wire and monitored the condition of the network using sensors of the monitoring system. They analyzed the loads on the overhead contact system and identified the components that sustain damage during an emergency.
Electricians practiced restoration technology using a prototype contact wire joint clamp. The contact network for HSR in Russia was created for the first time; the tests are needed to confirm operational characteristics and ensure safety in operation.
The full test cycle is planned to be completed in the spring of 2026.
