Russia's aviation industry found salvation in China: no country in the world builds airplanes alone

Oleg Smirnov recalled the industry's cooperation with friendly countries

Russia's chances of restoring sovereignty in aircraft construction alone are very low; it is necessary to look for options for cooperation with other friendly countries. This was stated by Oleg Smirnov, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Commission of the Public Council of Rostransnadzor.

He drew attention to international practice — no country in the world builds airplanes alone. The leading Western Boeing and Airbus are transnational corporations with production facilities in a large number of states, Smirnov recalled.

And this path is also available to Russia — cooperation with friendly countries. For example, with China, with which the Russian Federation is developing economic cooperation and has joint plans for the construction of aircraft. However, China primarily solves its own problems: their analogue of our MS-21 has already been certified and has begun to fly.

Smirnov added that in the event of a change in the geopolitical situation, it would be possible to partially establish ties with Boeing and Airbus, which would allow maintaining the fleet of aircraft in the required condition while import substitution is underway.

Now the number of foreign vessels is decreasing every year, maintenance is difficult because engineering and technical connections are broken, and they do not even inform Russian airlines about the changes being made. Of course, all this creates risks for flight safety.

Executive Director of Rostec Oleg Yevtushenko, citing the production of the SJ-100 as an example, noted that this is a — unique case. To carry out import substitution, it was necessary to manufacture and refine about 40 systems and assemblies, including the engine.
