The updated Lada Niva Travel with a new 1.8-liter 90 hp engine has passed extreme winter tests. The car was tested in a climate chamber at temperatures of -25 and -30 °C.
The maximum Techno configuration with a full winter package showed excellent results. The modernized cooling system with a thermostat integrated directly into the cylinder block significantly accelerated engine warm-up. After cooling for 6–7 hours, the engine started even in extreme frosts.
Test results showed that at -25 °C, the engine started instantly, and after 30 minutes, the temperature in the cabin reached +20 °C at the driver's feet. At -30 °C, the engine started with a slight delay, but the temperature inside the car still became positive, and the windows defrosted quickly.
The ice from the rear window was removed in 5 minutes. The exterior mirrors warmed up in just 2 minutes.
The car's seat and back heating system has been improved. Additional threads were installed in the windshield wiper rest area to maintain heat. The windshield heating is activated with a slight delay, which prevents possible damage.
Tests have proven the reliability of the engine and heating system. Experts recommend gently releasing the clutch when starting in severe frost for optimal operation.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the updated Lada Niva Travel will go on sale throughout Russia in the near future.
