Banks have started clarifying clients' family ties with recipients for large transfers. This was reported by RIA Novosti on December 21, 2025.
When attempting to transfer a significant amount, the transaction may be temporarily blocked. A bank employee contacts the client to clarify the recipient's full details, as well as their family relationship with the sender. The bank representative may also ask what purposes the money is planned to be spent on.
According to Vadim Uvarov, Director of the Information Security Department at the Central Bank, credit organizations check transfers for signs of fraud and suspend suspicious transactions to reduce the risk of theft.
On January 1, an updated list of signs of fraudulent transfers will come into force. It will include, in particular, changing the phone number to log into online banking and large transfers via the FPS to oneself.
