The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has released a video of the destroyed Cobra V8 electronic warfare system during an airstrike on a military facility in the Khuzestan province of Iran. It is believed that Russian technologies were used in the creation of this EW system, Defence blog writes.
Cobra V8 is a localized version of the Russian electronic warfare system 1RL257 "Krasukha-4". It was identified by one of the foreign OSINT analysts [Open Source Intelligence — editor's note www1.ru].
The expert claims that several Cobra V8 systems were located at a military facility near the city of Bandar-Khomeini even before the start of the conflict in the Middle East.
According to some reports, Cobra V8 creates interference and jams enemy aircraft radars at a distance of up to 250 km. The Iranian military used this system to counter reconnaissance operations by US Navy P-8 Poseidon patrol aircraft over the Persian Gulf.
Officials in Iran and Russia have not confirmed that Russian specialists helped develop Cobra V8.
