Hackers have learned to hack TVs with Smart TV

The device can become an entry point into the home network, where data from smartphones and computers is stored

Attackers are increasingly paying attention to smart TVs - they use them as an entry point into the home network, where data from smartphones, computers and smart home devices are stored. This was stated by Vladimir Daschenko, a cybersecurity expert at Kaspersky Lab.

Hacking TVs is possible because modern Smart TVs are essentially computers with an operating system and a permanent connection to the Internet.

Indirect signs of hacking may include the appearance of unknown applications, spontaneous changes in settings, and a noticeable slowdown in the device. In such cases, the expert recommends disconnecting the TV from the network, performing a factory reset, updating the firmware, and changing passwords for all accounts that were used on the device.

Special attention should be paid to the protection of smartphones, the expert notes - they can also become an access point to the Smart TV system.
