Omsk Cadets Present the "Omich-Vodomet" Amphibious Robot Tank

Young engineers have rethought military equipment

The Omsk Armored Engineering Institute (OABII VA MTO) has developed the "Omich-Vodomet" floating robotic complex — an unusual device that combines armored vehicle проходимость with the capabilities of water movement. The project, created by the institute's cadets, is not yet focused on combat use, but is already being considered as a multifunctional platform for environmental, rescue and research tasks.

The designers plan to integrate an artificial intelligence module into the "Omich-Vodomet", which will allow the robot to autonomously analyze the environment, make tactical decisions and adapt to changing conditions.

One of the key goals of the developers is to equip the complex with a specialized module for collecting and disposing of oil pollution, which will open up opportunities for combating oil spills on rivers, lakes and other bodies of water.

According to the creators, the "Omich-Vodomet" is able to confidently move both on difficult terrain and in the aquatic environment — including against a strong current.

The universal design of the device allows it to be considered as a dual-use tool: useful both in the civilian sphere (monitoring, environmental cleanup, rescue operations) and in the interests of the defense complex (reconnaissance, delivery of goods to hard-to-reach areas).
