The Leningrad Naval Base of the Baltic Fleet became the venue for the ceremonial commissioning of a new auxiliary vessel — the RB-2256 raid tugboat of project 705BM. The St. Andrew's flag was raised on board for the first time.
The vessel was built at the wharves of the "Grand" company, passed a full cycle of state tests and was transferred to the fleet after the signing of the acceptance certificate by the state commission.
Tugboat of project 705BM is a single-deck vessel designed to perform a wide range of auxiliary tasks in the coastal zone. Its architecture provides for a twin-shaft diesel power plant equipped with two controllable pitch propellers located in non-rotatable nozzles. Navigational maneuverability is provided by two rudders located behind the nozzles. Living quarters are located in the bow of the hull, and the engine room is in the central zone of the vessel. For protection during mooring and maneuvering, the hull is equipped with rubber fenders both at the bow and at the stern.
The new vessel will enhance the fleet's ability to ensure safe berthing, towing and maneuvering of warships in the cramped conditions of raids and bases.
Technical characteristics of project 705BM:
- Dimensions: overall length — about 17 m, width — about 5 m, height — 2.7 m, draft along the waterline at midships — 1.5 m.
- Speed: about 10 knots.
- Traction on bollards: about 150 kN.
- Autonomy: 3 days.
- Crew: 6 people.
