AvtoVAZ promises to return to a five-day work week from January 2026

The transition is due to the growth of the production plan, no layoffs are planned

AvtoVAZ plans to switch from a four-day to a five-day work week from January 2026. This was reported in the company's press service, noting that the transition is due to the growth of the production plan for the next year. After the restoration of the full schedule, employees' salaries will return to 100 percent, while no staff reductions are planned, and the recruitment of new employees continues.

The company emphasized that the number of resignations has decreased compared to previous months. AvtoVAZ unites production sites in Togliatti, St. Petersburg, Izhevsk and Argun. The work schedule and shift work are formed taking into account market demand: Lada car assembly lines will continue to operate in several shifts depending on the models and divisions.

Earlier, the plant had already switched to a shortened work week: in 2022, a "four-day week" was introduced for three months due to a shortage of components. In 2025, the work schedule was again reduced from autumn, which was explained by the high key rate and tightening of auto lending conditions. At the same time, sales of new Lada cars in October 2025 decreased by 25.8% year-on-year, to 33.3 thousand cars, which forced AvtoVAZ to offer large discounts.
