Unit 7 Planned Maintenance Completed at Novovoronezh NPP

Power unit brought to 100% capacity after modernization and preventive maintenance

The planned maintenance of power unit No. 7 with modernization elements has been completed at the Novovoronezh NPP, representatives of the nuclear power plant reported. On the morning of November 3, the power unit was brought to 100% capacity after planned preventive maintenance, which began on October 4.

As part of the repair, NPP specialists, together with the contractor Atomenergoreмонт, carried out current, medium and major repairs of the main and auxiliary equipment. Part of the spent fuel cassettes were replaced with fresh ones, the cooling tower bowl and sprinklers were cleaned with partial replacement of structures.

In addition, the automatic regulation and turbine protection systems were modernized, the supporting beams of the cooling tower were strengthened, and a sprinkler weight monitoring system was introduced, which signals the need for chemical cleaning or replacement of the beams.

According to Maxim Tuchkov, Deputy Chief Engineer for the 4th stage of the Novovoronezh NPP, the work is aimed at improving the reliability and operational safety of the power unit.

Currently, power units No. 4, 5, 6 and 7 are operating in normal mode, the total load of the station is 3746 MW. The radiation background near the station corresponds to the natural background values for the Voronezh region.
