Specialists from the Kazan Aviation Plant named after Gorbunov (KAZ, part of PJSC "Tupolev") are working to improve the flight performance characteristics of the Tu-214. This was reported by the local publication "Kazan Online."
Currently, the Tu-214 already has an airworthiness certificate. It is expected that KAZ will begin supplying "Tushkas" to airlines from 2027.
Work is underway to improve its flight performance characteristics and import substitution of some components.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev noted that KAZ ordered more than 100 Tu-214 aircraft, referring to S7 airline. The head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, stated that by 2028–2029, the aircraft plant would begin producing 20 Tu-214s annually.
Experts in the aviation industry warned that in order to reach mass production volumes, the production of the Tu-214 needs to be redesigned. In 2025, Kazan will produce only one Tu-214, although initially three were planned.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the MS-21 crew did not risk landing in strong winds during testing.
