Kazan Aviation Plant Failed to Meet Tu-214 Production Plan: Only One Instead of Three Will Be Made

The project may become KAZ's first fully domestic aircraft

The Kazan Aviation Plant (KAZ, part of the United Aircraft Corporation) will produce only one Tu-214 aircraft in 2025, although initially it was planned to assemble three aircraft. This was reported by Business Online, citing sources in the industry.

Nevertheless, this aircraft may become the first fully domestic passenger aircraft in the company's modern history.

Preliminary, the import-substituted Tu-214 with registration number RA-64536 should arrive at the flight test station by mid-November, this is the deadline. The press service of KAZ declined to comment.

Whether the aircraft will not only be lifted into the air, but also handed over to the customer is questionable, but it is unlikely. For example, four months passed from the first flight to the delivery of the previous aircraft. In any case, the annual plan is obviously being disrupted.

Experts in the aviation industry noted that in order to reach mass production volumes, the production of the Tu-214 needs not only to be improved, but actually redesigned. Only in this case will it be possible to talk about the production of dozens of aircraft per year.

Earlier www1.ru reported, the former vice president of UAC explained why the PD-35 engine project was curtailed.
