MC-21 will fly on fully Russian composites: import substitution completed

The "black" wing was installed on board No. 0013 for the first time

The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of the Rostec Group) has completely import-substituted composite materials on the MC-21-310 aircraft with tail number 0013. This was announced by Anatoly Gaidansky, Director of the Engineering Center of PJSC Yakovlev.

He recalled that aircraft No. 0013 was originally supposed to be the first production aircraft under the MC-21-300 program with imported engines and imported systems.

This aircraft was the first to implement an import-substituted wing. This was the first machine on which we implemented a complete import substitution of composite material, and this machine has already flown.
Anatoly Gaidansky, Director of the Engineering Center of PJSC Yakovlev

Gaidansky added that board No. 0013 has already conducted several flights, which allowed Yakovlev to certify the wing with Russian composite material in the aircraft structure in 2022.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the MC-21 crew did not risk landing in strong winds during testing.
