On October 7, at an altitude of 5,100 meters, 260 km from Krasnoyarsk, the right side window of the cockpit burst on an An-24RV (RA-46466) operating a flight from Svetlogorsk, causing depressurization. The Rosaviatsiya commission investigating the incident announced preliminary conclusions and possible causes.
Incorrect installation of the glass, hidden manufacturing defect, and operational loads - this fatal combination, according to Rosaviatsiya, led to the destruction of the glass in the cockpit and the sudden depressurization of the An-24RV aircraft of the KrasAvia airline.
Specialists of the commission continue a detailed analysis of all factors, including the condition of the sealing rubbers and fasteners, as well as the maintenance history of the aircraft, in order to establish the exact sequence of events that led to such a serious incident.
An-24 is a twin-engine, turboprop aircraft designed for passenger air transportation and intended for operation on domestic airlines of short and medium range. One of the most mass-produced passenger aircraft in the history of Soviet aviation.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the joint braking of electric and pneumatic brakes was introduced for the first time in Russia on the TEP-70BS diesel locomotive.
