Baltic Fleet helicopters located and escorted enemy submarines

The set of measures was carried out as part of exercises involving up to 10 aircraft units

Baltic Fleet helicopters conducted a search, identification, and escort of enemy submarines. As part of the exercises, anti-submarine helicopter crews successfully completed a set of tasks, including searching, detecting, classifying, maintaining contact, and further tracking of submarines simulating enemy actions, the Baltic Fleet press service reported.

After successfully completing the target tracking tasks, the crews of the Ka-27 and Ka-27M helicopters simulated the use of anti-submarine weapons.

Additionally, the message notes that in addition to combat training exercises, naval pilots were improving their skills in passing a given course over terrain without clear landmarks. Flight missions were also carried out to improve crew coordination and obtain admission to piloting in both simple and complex meteorological conditions.

The flights were carried out along a predetermined route over the waters of a maritime training ground belonging to the Baltic Fleet. The naval aviation flights were preceded by comprehensive preparation, including checking the readiness of the engineering and technical staff, ground services, and specialists responsible for ensuring flight training.

Up to 10 aircraft units were involved in the flights.
