Will Find Those Who Polluted the Air: AI in Chelyabinsk Involved in Finding Enterprises Polluting the Environment

Over the past month, the city has recorded exceedances of the maximum permissible concentrations of phenol, hydrogen fluoride, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, and ammonia

The Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, Alexei Texler, at the All-Russian Children's Environmental Forum, announced that artificial intelligence will be involved in the search for enterprises polluting the air in Chelyabinsk.

The air quality monitoring system based on artificial intelligence, using data on wind speed and strength, will determine the specific sources of emissions of harmful substances.

We plan that this system in the future will be able to automatically issue fines to enterprises that violate the law.
Alexei Texler, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region

The decision to resort to AI assistance was made due to the recorded high level of air pollution in the regional center. The Chelyabinsk Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring showed exceedances of permissible concentrations of phenol, hydrogen fluoride, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, and ammonia throughout the previous month.
