The newest Russian aircraft, the MC-21, SJ-100, and Tu-214, are often tested in the skies over Komi, a northern region of the country. The Ministry of Economic Development of the republic explained what exactly this is connected with.
The department emphasized that the lower congestion of airspace compared to metropolitan airports and the strategic location of the region create optimal conditions for safe testing of aviation equipment.
These conditions are especially important when conducting complex test programs that require special flight conditions.
Syktyvkar Airport fully meets the requirements for the implementation of the test program. The modern infrastructure of the air harbor allows organizing aircraft maintenance, ensuring the reception of aircraft of various classes, logistical support for test flights, and creating the necessary conditions for personnel.
This combination of factors makes Komi an attractive place for testing new models of airliners and developing an aviation test base, the department emphasized.
Earlier www1.ru reported that another Tu-214 produced by the Kazan Aviation Plant arrived in Syktyvkar.
