The Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) is developing a new Russian VK-800 turboprop engine. According to a number of parameters, the power plant surpasses modern foreign analogues, the company's press service noted.
Work on the unit for the light multipurpose aircraft LMS-901 Baikal, the UTS-800 training aircraft, the Russian-Belarusian regional aircraft LMS-192 Osvey and the re-motorization of localized L-410 aircraft is underway under a contract with the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
When designing the VK-800 engine, requirements for maintenance and application were laid down no less than for modern foreign analogues, and in some parameters they are even higher. Maximum power ranges from 807 hp to 877 hp, depending on the application.
In mid-July 2025, the first flight of the flying laboratory based on the Yak-40 aircraft with the VK-800 engine took place, which lasted 934 seconds in the sky. According to the results of the first test flight, the VK-800 engine demonstrated stable operation, all systems worked normally.
Earlier, UZGA put into operation one of the largest 3D printers in Russia. The machines allow the aviation enterprise to create large-sized parts from composites.
