The Russian military transport aircraft An-124 "Ruslan" delivered an American World War II fighter P-63 Kingcobra from Kamchatka to Moscow. It was raised from the bottom of Lake Vitaminnoe.
Now the "Kingcobra" will undergo restoration work. It should be noted that the cargo compartments of the "Ruslan" easily coped with the delivery of even such a bulky cargo, because its payload reaches 140 tons.
The P-63 fighter lay at the bottom of the lake for almost 80 years. The operation to raise it from the water last summer was carried out by divers of the Russian Underwater Research Expedition in cooperation with military pilots.
In the future, the P-63 fighter will be exhibited in one of the museums of military-technical history, which will preserve and demonstrate a unique historical relic to the general public.
The day before, the An-214 took off from the territory of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, where multi-purpose Su-30 fighters and Yak-130 combat trainers are produced. Judging by open sources, the transport aircraft headed for Iran.
