The Siberian Aeronautical Research Institute named after S.A. Chaplygin has successfully conducted a series of initial test flights of the Yak-40 flying laboratory with a new domestic VK-800 turboprop aircraft engine designed for the "Baikal" aircraft.
SibNIA noted that the tests were conducted to evaluate the characteristics and reliability of the new engine in real flight conditions, as well as to confirm its compliance with established safety and efficiency requirements.
The work was carried out to support the certification tests of this engine as part of the Yak-40 flying laboratory. It is expected that the test results will allow to proceed to the next stage — certification tests, as well as to prepare for the mass production of the VK-800 engine.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the import-substituted MS-21 aircraft successfully tested radio-electronic equipment.
