The sunken sea tugboat for the Russian Navy (VMF) "Captain Ushakov" of project 23470 has been in the water at the pier of the Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg for a month now. Footage of the vessel lying on its side has appeared online.
The technical readiness of the tugboat before the sinking was 97%.
"Captain Ushakov" was launched in June 2022. In the autumn of 2023, the tugboat was moored for completion at the Baltic Shipyard.
On August 8, 2025, the vessel tilted and partially sank, with preliminary damage estimated at a minimum of 1 million rubles. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on violation of safety rules during construction work. The commissioning of the vessel was postponed indefinitely.
At the end of August, the Yaroslavl Shipyard completed a tender to find a contractor to raise the sunken tugboat. The exact timing and cost of the work are not disclosed.
