Journalists recalled that Russia first deployed Tu-160 to Venezuela in 2008 to participate in joint exercises. Subsequently, the aircraft arrived in the South American state in 2013 and 2018.

The Tu-160 was developed in the USSR as a response to the appearance of the American supersonic strategic Rockwell B-1 Lancer, but the domestic machine surpassed it in firepower, dimensions, and speed.

The Tu-160's arsenal includes Kh-47M2 Kinzhal cruise missiles, Kh-55, Kh-101, and guided munitions such as the KAB-1500.
