Intelligence on Earth may develop in two scenarios. The first is the emergence of biological beings with a high level of intelligence. The second is the creation of artificial beings with superintelligence. This was stated by Dmitry Ushakov, Director of the Institute of Psychology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to the specialist, humanity is already observing the process of the evolution of intelligence, which goes beyond the traditional understanding of life. The expert explained that evolution is no longer limited to carbon forms, it also covers silicon structures.
Speaking about the two scenarios for the development of intelligence, Ushakov explained that biological beings can develop naturally. In contrast to them, artificial forms of intelligence are created using technology. This raises important questions about how we will coexist with such beings.
The development of artificial intelligence is already happening before our eyes, the psychologist added. He explained that machines are becoming increasingly intelligent and capable of performing tasks that were previously considered the prerogative of humans. This causes both hopes and fears.
