Remotorization and repair of old aircraft, such as the An-2, will help to temporarily solve the problem of the shortage of small aircraft in the regions of Russia. This was stated by the chairman of the Commission on Civil Aviation of the Public Council of Rostransnadzor, Honored Pilot of the USSR Oleg Smirnov.
According to him, many Soviet "corncobs" still have flight resources.
This is a reasonable temporary solution. There are still no new aircraft, but flights need to be organized now. Some An-2s have flight resources, some need repair - we need to look, count, understand how many engines are available.
Smirnov clarified that the ASH-62 engines still have a flight resource, but the problem is that they run on aviation gasoline, which Russia has stopped producing.
Now it has to be bought in Finland for a lot of money. But this problem is solvable, there are many factories producing fuel that can cope with this task if there is an order. This will help return several hundred An-2s to flights while the problem with new regional aircraft is being solved.
Aircraft manufacturers are working on four models of regional aircraft - TVRS-44 Ladoga, Il-114-300, LMS-901 Baikal and LMS-192 Osvey.
