Kamchatka to Become Pilot Region for Developing New Geothermal Energy Technologies

Experts to consider the implementation of Soviet projects taking into account new technologies

Kamchatka Krai has been selected as a pilot region for the development of advanced power generation technologies, as announced by Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev during a working trip.

The Mutnovskaya Geothermal Power Plant with a capacity of 50 MW, which uses steam from natural underground sources, will serve as the basis for the project.

Kamchatka also plans to train specialists to work in the field of new energy technologies. The development will use Soviet-era achievements with the application of modern solutions.

Geothermal energy is an environmentally friendly and stable source of electricity. Kamchatka, with its natural conditions, is becoming an experimental platform for creating technologies that can reduce the country's dependence on fossil fuels and ensure the sustainable development of remote regions.
