The aircraft-carrying cruiser "Admiral Kuznetsov" was commissioned in 1991. Since 2018, the warship has been undergoing modernization at the 35th Ship Repair Plant of the "Zvezdochka" Ship Repair Center (part of USC).
Initially, it was assumed that the warship of project 1143.5 would return to service at the end of 2024, but the deadlines have been postponed again. On the eve, July 11, news appeared in the media that "Admiral Kuznetsov" could be written off due to the impracticality of modernization.
Specialized Telegram channels, citing a former employee of "Zvezdochka," presented his vision of the situation with the problematic ship. According to him, work on the "Kuza" was completed 10 months ago.
More precisely, stopped. More than 1000 workers were dismissed without appropriate severance payments. According to my estimates, there were still 1.5–2 years of work left. Considering that the main part, the most difficult, was completed, other resources were paid for and prepared. 50% of the units were replaced, possibly more. But in general, even externally, if you look, there was significant progress compared to what it was.
The employee noted that the quality of welders was not monitored, and work was often redone 2–3 times. The workers involved in the repair were of a very low level, and 80% of the work was performed by hired firms — " халтурщики from recruitment agencies."
The machine park has remained from the 80s of the last century. The issue with the cruiser has not been finally resolved. Perhaps it will be put into conservation. I am not a specialist, but I understand something in the organization. And I think that this would be more correct than sending it for scrap. No less than 100+ billion has already been invested. It remains to invest 30. There is a point in the cruiser.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the production scale of the T-90M "Proryv" has become known — up to 300 tanks per year.
