The Chelyabinsk Electrometallurgical Plant (ChEMK) will switch to a four-day working week from September 1, 2025, as part of an anti-crisis program. The measure will affect the administrative staff of structural divisions, totaling about 1,200 people.
The company clarified that the decision was caused by a significant drop in consumer demand, unfavorable conditions in the ferroalloy product markets, and exchange rate volatility.
No staff reductions are planned; the main task of the measures being taken is to prevent production shutdowns and preserve the workforce. If the exchange rate stabilizes and the market situation improves, the anti-crisis measures will be reviewed, ChEMK noted.
The Chelyabinsk Electrometallurgical Plant is the largest ferroalloy producer in Russia. Currently, the shares of the plants within ChEMK are owned by the Federal Agency for State Property Management.
