The airline "Russia" (part of the "Aeroflot" group) has begun comparing the economic and technical characteristics of operating the all-Russian PD-8 engine and the foreign SaM146 for the SSJ-100. The prospect of further re-engining of the aircraft depends on the results of the analysis, said the carrier's CEO, Yan Burg.
He clarified that the cost of operating the PD-8 and SaM146 consists of the cost of maintaining airworthiness, fuel efficiency, the cost of replacement engines, the cost of spare parts, the duration of repairs, and much more.
The operator expects to receive answers to these questions by the end of the year.
Currently, "Russia" owns 78 SSJ-100 aircraft of domestic design. At the moment, the airline is the largest operator of this type of aircraft in the world.
Earlier www1.ru reported that import-substituted SJ-100 aircraft have completed half of the certification program.
