Стало известно, сколько композитных деталей использовали в отечественном авиадвигателе ПД-14

Composite materials can significantly reduce the weight of the engine, which is especially important for medium-range aircraft such as the MS-21

The official UEC channel reported that the Russian advanced PD-14 engine, developed by the United Engine Corporation (UEC), uses 316 composite parts, making it one of the most advanced in its class.

Composites, consisting of several components with different properties, allow combining the strength of metals with the lightness of polymers. In the PD-14 engine, they reduce the overall weight of the engine by 10–15% compared to traditional aluminum and titanium alloys, which, in turn, reduces fuel consumption and will make the engine more economical.

The PD-14 engine is a fifth-generation turbofan engine created for advanced civil, transport, and special aviation. Certified by Rosaviatsia in 2018, it has the following characteristics:

  • Thrust in takeoff mode: 14,000 kgf
  • Specific fuel consumption (cruising mode): 10–15% better than analogues
  • Dry weight: 2,870 kg

Advantages of PD-14:

  • Reduction of operating costs by more than 15% compared to global analogues
  • Compliance with modern and future ICAO environmental requirements
  • Comprehensive customer support and service system
