Max Messenger Denies Hacking Reports: User Data Protected

Publication about support for data extraction in forensic software called a fake

The Max messenger security center has denied reports of hacking and unauthorized access to user data. This was reported to TASS on March 17 by the platform's press service. The reason was a publication by the Telegram channel "Mobile Forensic Scientist" — the post reported that the forensic software "MK Expert" now supports the extraction and analysis of Max application data.

The platform's security center qualified the message as a fake and emphasized that user data is securely protected, and the developers of the mentioned software do not have access to the messenger's infrastructure and data.

The incident occurred against the backdrop of Max's growing audience: according to data from the beginning of 2026, the messenger has exceeded 100 million users. Against the backdrop of Telegram's slowdown in Russia, the platform is attracting new users — and it is at this moment that the appearance of publications about allegedly possible data extraction creates reputational risks for the service.
