The use of unmanned technologies will allow the Baimskaya Mining and Processing Plant (GOK) in Chukotka to reduce costs by tens of millions of dollars per year, said Georgy Fotin, General Director of GDK Baimskaya LLC, at the SPIEF-2025 site.
We settled on solutions for the use of unmanned mining dump trucks. In our case, these are 300-ton machines — the largest available on the market.
The company currently has 50 such machines. In addition to dump trucks, the management of the mining and processing plant plans to use unmanned excavators and drilling rigs. The equipment will be controlled from a remote center.
Among the advantages of unmanned equipment is the reduction of costs for personnel, logistics, and fuel. According to Fotin, companies will switch to unmanned equipment in the development of the Arctic in the next 5 years.
Baimskaya GOK is an investment project involving the development of the Baimskaya ore zone. There are deposits of copper, gold and other valuable metals here. The plant will be commissioned in 2029.
