The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) has begun developing low-speed engines for large-capacity vessels, the company's press service reported.
USC is considering the possibility of acquiring an industrial partner that will become the base platform for the production of high-power low-speed engines. It is also planned to involve LLC "Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant", which has the necessary competencies and production facilities.
The set of measures being developed by USC using extra-budgetary sources of financing will allow, in the perspective of several years, to organize the production of low-speed engines, prepare the basis for entering mass production and create conditions for the further development of low-speed engine building in Russia.
Earlier www1.ru reported that in Russia may establish the production of marine diesel engines with a capacity of up to 9000 kW.
