Russia has begun equipping combat aircraft, particularly MiG and Su series fighters, with new tactical nuclear missiles. This was reported in a report by the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency.
According to open source information, it concerns a special modification of the R-37M long-range guided missile, equipped with a tactical nuclear warhead.
Originally developed for MiG-31 interceptors, the missile has also been adapted for use on multirole Su-30SM, Su-35S, and Su-57 fighters.
The document states that Russia continues to build up its nuclear forces potential, including the development of new aviation systems, such as nuclear air-to-air missiles and other advanced carriers.
