A pilot project is starting to quickly detect and block fraudulent websites and applications that steal the personal and financial data of Russians. This was announced by the Department for Combating Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

An important pilot project starts today: a new system for instantly identifying and blocking fake websites and applications that steal logins, passwords, and personal and payment data of citizens.

The system will operate in test mode until March 1, 2026, as reported by law enforcement agencies.

The goal of the project is to develop an effective mechanism to protect users from Internet fraud. It is also necessary to establish effective interaction between key departments (Ministry of Digital Development, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Central Bank, FSB, Prosecutor General's Office, and others) with the Internet infrastructure.

The department stated that legislative measures will be developed to implement best practices.

The pilot is part of national cybersecurity and digital transformation programs aimed at improving the safety of citizens on the Internet.

Earlier it became known that in June, the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia will begin creating a mobile application to protect against cyber fraud. It will warn users about upcoming attacks and include a "panic button" function to call for help. This was announced by Deputy Minister Alexander Shoitov.
