Specialists from the "Rosel" holding (part of the Rostec State Corporation) have completed the repair of one of Moscow's key weather stations, replacing the failed foreign components with Russian analogues. This not only restored its functionality but also improved the accuracy of weather data.
The Dual Meos Polar station, installed in 2013, is an important element of the weather monitoring system in the central region. Its 3.7-meter antenna receives data from weather satellites, including temperature and pressure at the upper cloud boundary, precipitation index, and cloud cover level. After the introduction of sanctions, servicing foreign equipment became difficult, which led to failures.
Engineers from the Television Research Institute (part of "Rosel") conducted a full diagnosis and eliminated the malfunctions within a week, replacing imported components with domestic ones.
The project confirms that domestic specialists are capable of import substitution, including in this area. The departure of foreign suppliers due to sanctions did not prevent the professional maintenance of complex systems. Currently, we are negotiating the possibility of promptly servicing several more similar weather stations, including those operating in the Svalbard archipelago.
The Television Research Institute is a leading developer of monitoring systems for the space, energy, and transport industries. Its technologies are used in harsh conditions, including radiation-loaded environments.
