Для испытаний двигателей внутреннего сгорания: комплекс «КРОН-КС-276» создали в ТПУ

The complex plans to test an alternative type of fuel

Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) has developed a new complex for testing internal combustion engines (ICE) based on the "KRON-KS-276" unit.

This complex has a modular structure and consists of six modules — a load unit, a fuel supply and sensor module, a cooling unit, an internal combustion engine module, a control panel, and a control console.

The stand is equipped with a mechanical control system and is capable of reaching crankshaft speeds of up to three thousand revolutions per minute, developing power up to 210 kW. The installation weighs over 10 tons, and the system is fully automated. Scientists plan to test prototypes of alternative liquid fuels in the complex.

According to Alexander Ashikhmin, a junior researcher at the TPU Heat and Mass Transfer Laboratory, the unit allows simulating engine operation in various modes, including idling with a gradual increase in speed, starting and stopping the engine, as well as simulating operation in a mixed cycle with load. This will make it possible to test the engine's performance on alternative fuels in conditions similar to those of diesel generators and vehicles.

In real time, it will be possible to track engine performance characteristics such as its effective power, total effective fuel consumption, torque and crankshaft speed, pressure and temperature of lubricating oil at the inlet and outlet of the engine, temperature of the coolant at the inlet and outlet of the diesel engine, water temperature in the external circuit, and much more

The advantages of the developed complex include versatility, low energy consumption, automated operation, and ease of maintenance. The stand can be used with diesel engines used in both freight and passenger transport. In the near future, scientists plan to develop a standard for testing alternative liquid fuels on engine installations for land and water transport.
