The least dependence on foreign components is observed in icebreakers, and the greatest — in tankers. The data is presented in the Strategy for the Development of the Shipbuilding Industry for the period up to 2036 and for the further perspective up to 2050.
The share of imported components in ships of various categories varies from 30% to 80% of the total costs of materials and shipboard equipment.
The least dependence on imports is observed in the icebreaker segment, where the share of Russian components exceeds 60 percent, the largest - in the tanker segment, where on average only 5 percent of Russian components are used to build a vessel.
Russia can produce materials and shipboard equipment (nuclear marine power plants, diesel generators, paints and varnishes and ship steel). This opens up the possibility of increasing the share of domestic components in shipbuilding and reducing dependence on imports.
Earlier www1.ru reported that construction of the newest nuclear icebreaker "Stalingrad" has begun at the USC shipyard.
