Russia has allocated the first 7 billion rubles for the production of high-speed trains for the high-speed railway (HSR) "Moscow - St. Petersburg". This was reported by the press service of VEB.RF.
The supervisory board of the state corporation had previously approved the terms of participation in the financing of the project in the amount of up to 33.915 billion rubles for a period of up to 14.5 years.
As part of the HSR "Moscow - St. Petersburg" project, VEB.RF also ensures the execution of rolling stock supply contracts - the amount of guarantees provided by VEB.RF is about 52 billion rubles.
The launch of high-speed train production is scheduled for 2027, and the start of mass production is scheduled for 2028. The project is being implemented by JSC "Ural Locomotives". The total budget is about 43 billion rubles. A complex for the production of high-speed electric trains with a total area of 60 thousand square meters is being built in Verkhnyaya Pyshma.
The maximum speed of the new electric trains will be 400 km/h, and passenger transportation should begin in the spring of 2028. The journey time between Moscow and St. Petersburg will be about 2 hours 15 minutes.
