The required characteristics of the Russian analogue of Starlink are named: the system should be deployed in a minute

The communication channel must be protected from interception

The Russian analogue of Starlink for military use should solve two problems simultaneously: be as simple as possible to deploy and use at the tactical level and provide stable satellite communications in conditions of active opposition. This was stated by experts from the Telegram channel "Military Chronicle."

According to them, the system should be deployed at a position in 1–3 minutes without setup, ideally by one soldier. Operate from a built-in battery, with the possibility of connecting to an external power supply or generator.

Form factor — a compact case with a self-orienting antenna. It is desirable to be able to carry it with you in a backpack. At the same time here it is also necessary to ensure minimal energy consumption, because in a trench the source of consumption is not only a satellite Internet dish.

There should also be protection of communication from electronic warfare systems. The channel must be protected from interception, jamming, and false signals. Kits should be in battalion and company units, without being tied to senior headquarters. The quantity is not one per unit, but with a reserve: based on a minimum of 1 kit per platoon/maneuver group.

In addition, scalability and fault tolerance are critical. Communication should be maintained even if part of the network is lost. We need a mesh architecture and the ability to switch between nodes. Satellites are small, low-orbit, with real-time channel redundancy — a separate program that needs to be addressed and controlled first and foremost.
