The first flight of the fully import-substituted SJ-100 with PD-8 engines is evidence of the restoration of the aviation industry in Russia. This was stated by Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center.
The fully import-substituted SJ-100 aircraft made its first flight in Komsomolsk-on-Amur on April 23. Certification tests will be completed by the end of 2025, in order to start deliveries of the aircraft to airlines from 2026.
The flight of the fully import-substituted Superjet with the new PD-8 engine has been completed, it flies successfully. Yesterday's flight marked the fact that we have completely restored the entire cycle of the aviation industry, a very important matter.
According to him, as part of cooperation with the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center, five alloys were developed for the production of elements of the PD-8 engine, including highly loaded nozzle and working blades of high and low pressure turbines.
