Rosatom plans to build Siberia's first wind farm with a capacity of 18.35 MW in the Omsk Region in 2029. This will be an important step in the development of renewable energy in the region.
According to Egor Grinkevich, Advisor to the General Director of "Rosatom Renewable Energy", promising sites for construction have already been identified in six districts of the Omsk Region. The wind potential in the region for the placement of facilities is assessed as high.
Although the project initially involves the creation of a small wind farm with a capacity of 18.35 MW, Rosatom does not rule out that the volume may significantly increase following the results of competitive selections in 2025. In the future, the capacity of future wind farms in the Omsk Region may be increased to 400 MW.
Such a project in the Omsk Region has great potential for stimulating the use of alternative energy sources, and also contributes to the diversification of the region's energy base, which is traditionally focused on coal and oil production.
