КАМАЗ запустил пробное движение беспилотных тягачей «Маяк» на ЦКАД

The new version of "Mayak-2" is equipped with an improved system of sensors and radars for safe driving

Unmanned KAMAZ trucks have been launched on the Central Ring Road as part of the "Unmanned Logistics Corridors" project.

Three vehicles are participating in the tests: two "Mayak-1" prototypes and an improved "Mayak-2", created on the basis of the serial KAMAZ-54901 truck. These are pre-production models, close to the models that are planned to be mass-produced by 2028.

The second version of "Mayak" has been improved based on the experience of operating the first model. Engineers optimized the location of sensors, introduced high-precision navigation, and also improved the characteristics of lidars and radars to increase the detection range of objects. In addition, the stability of communication has been strengthened, which is critical for safe operation in autonomous mode.

By 2025, the company plans to release a "Mayak-2.5" modification with additional upgrades, and in a year and a half to two years — a pre-production "Mayak-3". The latter will be the final step before the launch of mass production.

The development of unmanned trucks will reduce dependence on the human factor in logistics, increase safety on highways and reduce transportation costs. Successful testing on the Moscow Central Ring Road, where the intensity of traffic and the complexity of the route simulate real conditions, confirms the readiness of the technology for integration into the transport system. For the industry, this is a step towards the automation of cargo transportation and competition with foreign analogues, such as Tesla Semi.

While the prototypes are moving under the supervision of engineers, by 2028 KAMAZ intends to present fully autonomous solutions that can operate without driver intervention.
