ЦБ предупредил россиян о новой уловке мошенников с «международным счётом»

Fraudsters have started using a scheme to deceive citizens with mentions of the Bank of Russia

Fraudsters have developed a new fraud tactic: they contact Russians, posing as employees of the Central Bank, and offer them to close an "international account" in order to transfer a large sum of money from it.

The scammers send the victim an email with the regulator's logo. It also includes the person's last name, first name, and patronymic.

In the message, the fraudsters claim that the user has an account with a European financial organization. They offer to close it and threaten with fines, property seizure, or withholding funds from wages.

As part of the fraudulent scheme, when closing the "international account," the fraudsters offer to transfer funds to a Russian bank account while maintaining the interest income. For more detailed information, the fraudsters recommend replying to the email, contacting the senders via messengers, or clicking on the link provided in the email.

Some emails include a phishing link to a website where you are asked to enter personal data and bank details, allegedly for identification and account closure.

The regulator reminded that cybercriminals can use personal data to illegally withdraw money or apply for a loan. If a suspicious link containing malicious software is received, attackers can gain remote access to the user's banking applications.

In this regard, the Central Bank recommends not responding to such emails and not clicking on suspicious links. If in doubt, you should contact your bank. To ensure the security of your mobile device, it is recommended to install antivirus software.

Real employees of the Bank of Russia do not call people and do not send them copies of any documents, <…> do not offer to perform any operations with the account.

Earlier it became known that fraudsters began to use forums dedicated to combating fraud to find their victims. They posed as lawyers and offered deceived Russians to return the lost money for a certain reward.
