S7 Group was mentioned among the possible candidates for the role of savior of the project to create a replacement for the An-2 "Kukuruznik". The mechanism for changing the developer in this case is through the determination of the state contract executor.

The initial price of ₽10,364,900,050.00 turned out to be the final one. The only correctly submitted application with exactly the same price was considered, and it was declared the winner.

Thus, UZGA is determined as the contractor for the execution of development work on the refinement of the LMS-901 "Baikal" light multipurpose aircraft.

The main problems with the "Baikal" concerned stability at low speeds, excessive effort on the control stick, as well as the need to rework the tail and landing gear. These defects require significant modifications, which may cost at least 10 billion rubles, which is five times more expensive than the cost of modernizing the An-2.

Earlier, Rostec reported that the MC-21 airliner was given the task of competing with Boeing and Airbus.
