Refinement of the LMS-901 "Baikal" aircraft for the VK-800SM engine will require 10.3 billion rubles

The multipurpose aircraft LMS-901 "Baikal", developed to replace the An-2 " кукурузник", will be refined. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has announced a tender for research and development work to meet the necessary requirements.

The work is to be completed by December 17, 2027, the maximum allocated amount is 10.4 billion rubles.

The winner of the competition will receive a three-year contract, under which it will have to replace imported propellers and engines with domestic ones, refining the prototypes of the AV-901 propeller and the VK-800SM engine. At the same time, the aircraft should not lose its previously stated characteristics.

The LMS-901 "Baikal" aircraft was developed for regional aviation, the vessel is in its zenith An-2 " кукурузник", which has exhausted its resources. The length of the aircraft is 12.2 m, the height is 3.7 m, the wingspan is 16.5 m. The maximum take-off weight is 4.8 tons, the speed is up to 300 km/h. The maximum flight range is 3000 km. The first production aircraft were to be delivered in 2026.
